About Cortex TBI

Cortex TBI specializes in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of traumatic brain injuries, concussions, and related neurological conditions. Our multidisciplinary team combines advanced diagnostic testing, evidence-based treatment approaches, and individualized care plans to help patients manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

We work collaboratively with neurologists, neuropsychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, patient-centered care throughout the recovery process.

About the Role

Cortex TBI is seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled, and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing healthcare team as a direct W-2 employee.

In this role, you will evaluate patients experiencing traumatic brain injuries, post-concussion syndrome, headaches, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, sleep disturbances, and other neurological symptoms. You will obtain medical histories, conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment recommendations, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with physicians and other specialists to support comprehensive care.

The ideal candidate has strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and an interest in neurological health, brain injury recovery, and multidisciplinary patient care.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a specialized clinical practice focused on evidence-based evaluation, individualized treatment planning, and improved patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Evaluation and Clinical Assessment

  • Conduct comprehensive patient consultations and obtain detailed medical histories, including injury history, presenting symptoms, prior treatments, and relevant medical conditions.

  • Perform physical examinations and focused neurological assessments within the scope of licensure and clinical privileges.

  • Evaluate patients experiencing traumatic brain injuries, concussions, post-concussion syndrome, post-traumatic headaches, dizziness, balance problems, cognitive changes, mood disturbances, and sleep difficulties.

  • Assess symptom severity, functional limitations, and changes in clinical status over time.

  • Review available medical records, diagnostic findings, and previous treatment plans to support informed clinical decision-making.

  • Identify symptoms or clinical findings that require additional diagnostic evaluation, specialist consultation, or urgent medical attention.

Diagnosis and Treatment Planning

  • Develop individualized assessment and treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient needs, evidence-based guidelines, and applicable practice protocols.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests within authorized scope, credentialing, and applicable protocols.

  • Review relevant diagnostic results, including cognitive screening, vestibular testing, EEG-related studies, and neuropsychological evaluations, in collaboration with appropriate specialists when indicated.

  • Provide appropriate treatment recommendations and prescribe medications when authorized and clinically indicated.

  • Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care plans in accordance with clinical findings and established protocols.

  • Educate patients about their condition, symptom management, recovery expectations, and recommended follow-up care.

  • Recognize when referral to a neurologist, neuropsychologist, rehabilitation specialist, or another healthcare professional is appropriate.

Patient Follow-Up and Care Coordination

  • Conduct follow-up visits to assess symptom progression, treatment response, and functional improvement.

  • Coordinate care with neurologists, physicians, therapists, neuropsychologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

  • Communicate relevant clinical findings and treatment recommendations to appropriate healthcare professionals.

  • Help ensure patients understand their care plans, follow-up schedules, and recommended next steps.

  • Support continuity of care through timely communication, appropriate referrals, and coordinated treatment planning.

Clinical Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Document patient histories, examination findings, clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up recommendations.

  • Review and document diagnostic results and relevant clinical findings.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements and applicable healthcare regulations.

  • Follow clinical policies, professional standards, prescribing requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Complete required documentation and administrative responsibilities associated with patient care.

Team Collaboration and Quality Improvement

  • Participate in clinical case reviews, team meetings, and collaborative treatment planning.

  • Consult with supervising or collaborating physicians as required by applicable law, organizational protocols, and clinical circumstances.

  • Contribute to consistent clinical workflows and high standards of patient care.

  • Identify opportunities to improve patient education, care coordination, clinical documentation, and treatment processes.

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines, neurological care practices, and developments in traumatic brain injury management.

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state where patient care will be provided.

  • Current national board certification through an appropriate recognized certifying organization.

  • Master's degree or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.

  • Experience conducting patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing follow-up care.

  • Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and manage multiple patient care responsibilities.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care, professional ethics, confidentiality, and evidence-based practice.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neurology, traumatic brain injury, concussion management, rehabilitation medicine, or a related clinical specialty.

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) certification appropriate to the patient population.

  • Experience evaluating post-concussion symptoms, headaches, dizziness, cognitive complaints, or other neurological concerns.

  • Familiarity with interpreting clinical findings and coordinating care related to EEG, vestibular testing, cognitive screening, and neuropsychological evaluations.

  • Experience working in a specialty clinic or multidisciplinary outpatient healthcare setting.

  • Familiarity with electronic health records, clinical documentation standards, and healthcare compliance requirements.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
